Mr. Mitchell is a graduate of Dartmouth College and the University of Colorado School of Law. He has been in private practice in the Denver, Colorado area since 1980 concentrating in elder law: Medicaid planning, guardianships and conservatorships, probate, wills and trusts.

Since 1997, Mr. Mitchell has limited his practice to elder law. He has received a national certification as an elder law attorney from the National Elder Law Foundation, a private nonprofit foundation. He was Co-Chair of the Elder Law Committee of the Colorado Bar Association from 2000-2002 and is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys, Inc. (NAELA), a private nonprofit organization of lawyers specializing in handling the legal needs of the elderly. He has lectured on Medicaid, medicaid planning and medical directives.

Mr. Mitchell is active in medical ethics. He is a community volunteer member of the Medical Ethics Committee for the Health One Medical Center of Aurora on which he has served since 1993. He is a member of the Medical Ethics Committee for Sky Ridge Medical Center.

Mr. Mitchell received the Health One Ethics Award Certificate of Recognition in February, 2009, for his work with the Sky Ridge Ethics Committee.  He also was selected for 2009 Super Lawyers and was published in the April 2009 issue of Colorado Super Lawyers.  Paul Mitchell is also listed in the Top Attorneys in Colorado section of the April 2009 issue of 5280 Magazine.
